Workshop at Grimme Forschungskongress
The topic of this year’s Grimme Research Congress is the quality of media. The track “calculated” takes this topic to education, with a focus on big data and algorithms. I have been working on developing a new cultural education format for the Algorithmic Literacy Lab* (Art University Cologne), with the working title “Through the Eyes of Data”, which will be put on a first test with the participants of the congress.
The Algorithmic Literacy Lab* is a space for transdisciplinary collaboration and didactic invention in the context of post-digital educational practice. Artists, educators, and scientists work together on educational materials on Algorithmic Decision Making (ADM) and, respectively, on more general questions concerning digital literacy. https://kunst.uni-koeln.de/algorithmic-literacy-lab/
After testing in the field, the workshop material will be published via Workbook Arts Education (myow.org), a participatory platform by the University of Cologne, collecting ideas and sharing impulses for arts education, and be freely available.
